Tony Poll Top Three: Clap If You Believe Neverland Deserved Tony Nods

April 29th, 2015 | By Broadway.com Staff

The nominations for the 2015 Tony Awards were announced on April 28, and while we’re thrilled for such shows and stars as Fun Home, An American in Paris, Kelli O’Hara and Bradley Cooper, there were a number of productions and performers that were sadly not recognized. We asked fans which Tony snub they were fuming over the most. The results are in, and here’s what you had to say!  We congratulate all the shows, stars, directors and more—nominated or not—on another spectacular season on the Great White Way. (And if you’re still angry, show those nominators how it’s done by picking the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award nominees!)

1. Finding Neverland for Best Musical—24%
We’re glad we weren’t the only ones who felt the world was upside down when this charming tuner was completely shut out—not only in Best Musical, but also in every other possible category. Something tells us though that this show will continue to do just fine without any nominations—both on Broadway and on the road.

2. Side Show for Best Revival of a Musical—15%
The fall shows typically face an uphill battle on Tony Tuesday—particularly if they’ve already closed. But when this haunting reimagining of a cult favorite was not nominated for Best Revival (or any other category), we played “Who Will Love Me As I Am?” on repeat until the pain went away. OK, well, we considered doing that.

3. Alysha Umphress for Best Featured Actress in a Musical—10%
Another standout from the fall that was overlooked in favor of five spring performances. The former Broadway.com vlogger brought plenty of sass and riffs to the role of Hildy in On the Town, and while she may not have gotten a nod, we’re thrilled this production still sailed away with four, including Best Revival of a Musical.
