Mean Girls & SpongeBob SquarePants Lead 2018 Tony Award Nominations

The day has arrived! Nominations have been announced for the 2018 Tony Awards. Smash alums Leslie Odom Jr. and Katharine McPhee made the announcement live from the New York Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.

Leading the list with 12 nominations are the new musicals Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants. Following just behind are the revival of Angels in America, the new musical The Band's Visit and the fresh staging of Carousel, each earning 11 nominations.

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards, hosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban, will be held at Radio City Music Hall on June 10. The ceremony will be telecast live on CBS.
